Belated 2008 Christmas gifts for Jay & Lisa Miller

Finally. I finally finished and will give these to Jay and Lisa tonight. I painted portraits of their Dungeons and Dragons characters for them. This is Galen Huntsridge and Caerdhwyn…

Keeping Warm: Simple Things Shawl

I found this wonder yarn by Fleece Artist (Merino 2/6) and loved the colorway. I’m normally not terribly fond of variegated yarns, as they tend to mask cables and lacework, which I tend to do a fair amount of, so when I came across this simple pattern, I thought it would be ideal for showing the yarn off. It’s very warm and I get a lot of use out of it.

Christmas Knitting: Lace Beret for Mom

This was a good challenge – a fancy lace beret from Vogue knitting in light fingering weight yarn. Mom had mentioned that she wanted this beret and I knew I had the perfect yarn for it – which happened to be in her color!

Knitted Veyla Gauntlets

I needed something to help keep my hands watrm at rehearsals last autumn so I made these up. The pattern is called Veyla and the design is by Ysolda Teague – a Scottish knitting designer. You can find the pattern on her site.

Christmas Knitting: Haven scarf for Lisa

This one was fun to knit – so soft and warm (mmmm… alpaca!) but unfortunately sheds like crazy on her black coat.

Christmas Knitting: Noro Striped Scarf for Jay

This one was fun to knit. I had to order the yarn online so I could find masculine enough colors for Jay. If you want the pattern, you can find it in Jared Flood’s blog.

Christmas Knitting: Dean Street Hat for Allain

I knit this entire hat while watching the latest Die Hard movie at Jay & Lisa’s. Small pattern = chunky yarn makes for a fast project. Allain has told me that his girlfriend has claimed it – I’m glad she likes it and that it’s gone to a good home.

Knitting Project: Textured Tunic

Found this pattern in “Fitted Knits” by Stephanie Japel and just had to do it. I would up using an inexpensive yarn from Micheals (Vanna’s Choice – did you know Vanna White had a line of yarns?) and it knitted up rather quickly and it very wearable, although I’d do the sleeves differenlty next time so that they don’t get caught in the dishes, etc.

Christmas Knitting: Endpaper Gauntlets

I managed to knit a handful of Christmas gifts for friends & family this year… this is what I made for Mare. You can find the pattern at http://www.eunnyjang.com/knit/2006/11/endpaper_mitts.html

A Blogging Hiatus

I was busy Stage Managing Jekyll & Hyde and since then I jsut haven’t been online outside of work much. My apologies for the slackness. I will try to get back to a regular schedule.
